Will i be able to source a XJ6 5 speed manual here in the US to swap for the AT in my 1997 XJ6R? As per this Youtube vid by "JayEmm on Cars Getaway Drivers Spec XJR6" ?
Getrag 390 ( or 290 ) transmissions ( original factory fitment ) were manufactured as New Venture 3500 in the US and installed in Jeeps , GM trucks , and Plymouth models
The clutch pedal apparently bolts on the side of the original factory brake pedal bracket
There was a pic that came up recently that I saved somewhere
There is a clutch fluid reservoir in pic in the X300 Jaguar service manual PDF
The question becomes bell housing adapter , ECU adaption , and transmission crossmember as from my understanding is different then the GM transmission for the supercharged engine
I have a cracked transmission cross member for the normally aspirated 4.0 ( Jaguar part # MNA7600CB ) you can play with or beef up during repair ( mount hole ears not cracked ) as I found a new one in wrapper to put on
The manual transmission cross member part # is MNA7600 B B
There is a rubber donut sticking out to nothing on the CB crossmember that just begs to have its existence answered
There is a troublesome O - ring high on the engine block rear worth replacing once the engine / transmission is split

I know this sounds confusing but that transmission is different from the Getrag that was put in the Jaguar but if you can find the one-off of a Jaguar, it's a bolt-on operation. I know b/c I did it myself on my XJR as well
"There is a rubber donut sticking out to nothing on the CB crossmember that just begs to have its existence answered"...that's for dampening out the vibrations

Why don't you ask the man who owns that car from the video? Search up the username "xxxscimitarxxx" on this forum
Proper transmission cross member # and if a Jaguar / GM transmission version can be modified ?
Did you change the bell housing and its part # and probably had to for the clutch package
Do yo have the specific model # off the Getrag ?
Which wires did you have to trick or isolate on the ECU ?
Kickdown / Engine speed purposely had to bring down by a tweak on shifting or does the crank / piston rotating mass behave properly ?
TBH, the transmission member isn't even that important. You can probably reuse the one from the automatic one, I used the manual one b/c they are pretty cheap on eBay
No, didn't have to change the bell housing. All you need is the adaptor plate that lets you bolt on the getrag onto the engine
I don't think I have a specific but here is a listing for the same one. You can see the shape of the bell housing and the any other information you may need:
The wires in the J-gate with that tell the transmission which gear it is. Those are the ones that the ECU needs. The ECU only needs to know if the car is in park/neutral. Then it will let you crank her up. Please see the attached wiring diagram. If you look at the automatic wiring diagram, you see where the "linear gear position" bit is? Now compare that with the manual wiring diagram. See how that pin is grounded? So what you have to do is take the park/neutral wires and sort them. And sort out the neutral wiring too. It sounds confusing but they are all located in the same location an once you look at the plug, you will understand what to do
I removed the kick-down switch, it was of no use after the TCM was removed
I did get the ECU reprogrammed by xjrengineer but the car will work without it too. The rpms will just hang btw shifts and it may shut down once in a while but will always start right up. Also, he tunes the ECU to advance the timing. I haven't had the opportunity to fully test out everything yet since it's winter here
Your information gets me further along for I have the dream
Good luck!
Also, minor but relevant point: I forgot to mention the ECU reprogramming removes the emissions stuff like EGR and air injection and the second pair of O2 sensors. So it becomes a more or less UK spec car
Andy probably set it as a default to the EU but will most likely be able to separate it out and just do the CKPS biasing and a couple of other things keeping the 4 O2 sensor , EGR , and smog pump
He probably removed a EU data package some time back and modified it to put in yours as the ECU hardware is the same except for the V12
The question would be if the corrected ECU programing would be Jaguar TSB R493 compliant to be able to operate the ungraded EGR valve if installed with no problems
