Default New 5 speed standard transmission for XJ6

I would like to replace the Borg Warner 66 automatic transmission (still working fine) with a five speed manual (preferable) or a five speed automatic (700TR ?). What do people recommend and are there kits for this? I do not want to change the engine and I would prefer not to change the shape of the car. Jaguar did have a 5 speed standard transmission for the XJ6 but I do not know what to look for.

Thanks for the information and suggestions.

Best wishes,

Neal Lewis

The manual trans was in Euro option. I'm sure there is a conversion out there.

The 700TR can work. Several folks sell adapters for that conversion. The manual is a bit more difficult. I researched it a while ago. Drivenman.com might be able to help. And, there is a group in New Zealand that have a kit to adapt a Toyota manual that sounded good, but expensive. There was a posting in the XJS section about it. I have never figured out why one couldn't adapt a XKE gearbox to an XJ6.
Why do you want to go to a manual?
