64,000 mile maintenance to check for ?
My 1997 XJ6 goes into a shop tomorrow for inspection of what they think the car needs in regards to the 60k service and anything else. They are the area specialists for Mercedes and ZF transmissions that other shops outsource to, and they say others often replace things that are just fine. I am not a perfectionist for appearance but I savor a well running vehicle. My goal is to keep this car a decade as my daily driver over city roads, 5,000 miles annual use.
Here is a short list of items I have culled from other posts. Please let me know if there are other items
1. gearbox fluid and back axle (this scared off 2 other local shops)
2. Upper tensioner in the engine (for XJR only or regular XJ6 too?)
3. Quality oil: run 10W/40 Synthetic oil
4. "bushes for the radiator mounts, and condensor mounts are probably getting tired"
5. Traction Control Actuator's two wires insulation checked
6. Shocks and related yellow bushes
7. Front suspension wear that would justify switching to Andy's front anti-roll bar drop links

Scared off? I wonder why. Fluid changes are boringly routine on the gearbox and differential. Nothing exotic at all.

Same for either engine as far as I know. Replace only when/if needed.

Good

Inspect, repair/replace as needed

Not quite sure what you're asking or saying. Andy's drop links are an optional upgrade. Suspension wear, or lack of suspension wear, doesn't really enter in.
Don't forget fuel filter, repacking front bearings, belt inspection, lubricating half-shaft u-joints, fresh coolant.
Others will chime in with more!

Whilst they are working on the back end (changing diff oil etc) have them do a quick visual on the Jurid Coupling. At 60K yours may be fine, but they form cracks over time and ultimately fail if neglected.
.
It the rubber disc that joins the differential yoke to the driveshaft.

It is a possible DIY job, but I believe the tail shaft is a little awkward to drop on this model especially without a hoist or scissor lift. I have neither. I had mine done at the same time as having the diff pinion seal replaced (which was leaking). Sometimes it's worth consolidating a coupe of jobs requiring similar component dismantling to save on time/labour cost!
