96 xj6 starting problem
Hi every one
I have a problem, the car cranks over but wont start. No fuel, no spark. On the coils one wire positive (when turn ignition on), and nothing on other wire. On the injectors both wires positive. What could be the problem?
Other think, remote not work. When I press the lock or unlock button nothing happens, only head lights come on for about 5 seconds.
It is 2 different problems or its could one?
Thanks for any reply

While I don't like replacing parts without checking them...
I would get a Crankshaft Position Sensor (look around on eBay, and also check Rockauto, Autozone, etc. for a good price) - they are known to fail and leave you stranded - if it's not the CPS, then you have a spare (that you should carry in the car). I had a CPS fail (failed to work when it got a bit warm - like after 200 meters of driving). I replaced it (and have another new one in the car as a spare). I got mine for $70. Trying to source one of those when you are in the middle of nowhere is difficult and I think the Jaguar dealer would change quite a bit more...
It's easy to replace.
Also, it should not be the camshaft position sensor - the X300 (1995-1997) XJ6 runs fine with it unplugged, just takes a bit longer to start until it has figured out the camshaft position vis-a-vis the crankshaft position (compression vs. exhaust stroke).
