Hello there. I am a first time Jag owner and I absolutly love the car. I have a 97 xj6 that I purchased from the second owner for a very good price. The previous owner sold me the car on the premise that the brakelights didnt work. It seems that she had stacked too much stuff in the trunk and knocked the plug loose up by the parcel tray. That was an easy fix, but now I am stuck with a drivers seat that does not move. I can tell it gets power since the seat heater works, and the lumbar support has power, but for whatever reason the seat will not move when you try to adjust it. Some people have said its the seat module and others have stated its the seat motor. Is this a common problem? Have any of you had to deal with such a thing? any advice that can be offered would be very much welcome.

Could be either one. You need to see if the motor is getting power. Do any of the other seat functions work? The rise and fall or the recline?

This might be a longshot, but is there anything under the seat that may be jamming it? Otherwise you can do some trouble-shooting per Ken's input. Assuming that you want to move the seat back, you may want to force it back by hitting the seat switch and try moving it with your legs. Not a school solution by any means though. Again, Ken or another expert on Jags might offer a better solution.Originally Posted by ken@britishparts.com

Good luck,

Well first of all my car is spotless on the inside. So anything being stuck in the seat tracks is out of the question. In regards to the functioning of the seat the only thing that works is the lumbar, and the heater. I received a pm stating that I should swap out the pass side module since that seat works fine. Does anyone know where this module resides? Do I need to disconnect the batt to reset the computer? This car does everything right with the exception of being able to lean the seat back a few degrees so I dont sit so upright all the time. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Could be the switch, the seat module, the seat potentiometer, or the motor itself. I'm not much of an electrician, so I don't really have a good way to tell you to go about testing all these things.
