'97 XJ6 Engine Rumbles Like A Diesel When Turned Off

My engine rumbles like a diesel recently when I turn the car off. What could be causing this?

It used to shut off more smoothly I guess.

Timing. As it's all controlled by engine management system, diagnostics would be the way I'd go first.

I'm wondering if this is a symptom of a failing fuel pump perhaps?

I would suspect worn engine mounts. You wouldn't really notice it at idle or on the road in an inline 6, but when shutting the car off, you may feel the engine shudder.

No, it's not the mounts. It's the manner in which it dies off. Like fuel is being cut off rapidly.

Oh, I see. I interpreted it as a short shuddering.

Maybe next time you turn the car off, you could take a video for us. I'm sure someone will recognize the problem.
