Default 97 XJ6L Lagging and Making Weird Noise

Hello everyone, I'm hoping someone can help with my situation today so about 15 minutes ago i just came back from a pretty good drive with the XJ6 I was pulling around the corner and all of a sudden it dropped down into A really noticeable lagging state like i was only able to do 15 mph and making a weird lawn mower like noise.

This morning before i started running errands I filled up with Premium Gas like what was recommended in my last Thread, and also added a fuel additive that would clean the injectors. And make the car idle smoothly. I just bought the car about two weeks ago which I'll add the link to my first Thread and intro with pics. If anyone could help It would greatly be appreciated.

Based on that very brief description I would think of a fuel pressure issue (first signs of pump failure or perhaps simply fuel filter?) - but it would be a stab in the dark

However, if you can provide more information that will help the guys on here to come up with other ideas.

- how long did the condition last?
- if condition was only brief, what restored normal operation?
- has it happened since?
- can you replicate the problem?
- did you get MIL or are any codes stored?
- were you accelerating out of the corner when it happened or braking in to the corner?
- was the engine at normal temp or cold?
- I'm not sure what a weird lawnmower sounds like - can you be more descriptive?

Thanks for your reply ,

1. The condition is still lasting last time i drove it
2. yesterday was the first day that it happened.
3. No codes were given because check engine light is not on
4. I was accelerating out of the corner when it dropped down.
5. The engine was at normal temperature.
6. Weird lawn mower noise ( it sounded really loud and like I forced a V8 into my V6 ) almost overworked maybe.
7. Has not stalled.
8. Starts up strong overtime just a little loud now.

Thank you again for responding.

First question ,does the car rev up ok ? I will assume that you have checked belts and pulleys ?Is the weird mower sound the engine "knocking" ? You need 3 things for an engine to run , fuel which has been addressed above , spark , and air , have you checked the air filter ?

Update , So it stopped raining finally and i had a chance to actually look at the car and jack it up and a piece of the exhaust disconnected causing the loud noise and the lagging. Now I just have to figure out how to reconnect it.
