Chasing this down after installing headers. Decided to replace coils, pressure regulator and injectors. Found a set of six by an Ebay vender for less than one from other sources. Hi Jagstuart,

How did you find the injectors ordered on eBay?

Also looking at the exact same injectors to possibly buy ..,

 

Some have sent the their injectors off to be cleaned

There is a do it yourself process to run pure cleaner through them

Keep in mind the supercharged injectors are different than the normally asperated

Have had my injectors professionally cleaned twice over the last few years but would like to compare them with a brand new one .., the listing on eBay that Jagstuart alludes to are the same one I have been eying for some time. Good price! can actually buy a set for the price of one.

I might have an lazy injector or two at low pulse width when idling in Park.

Idle in Drive much smoother.

A injector specialist told me that: Injectors with high flows are hard to control at idle rpms. They deliver so much fuel, it is difficult for the ECU and the mechanical injector to get a low enough pulse width to get consistently delivered equal length open/close times. Such is the nature of a high HP engine. Make its best performance at the higher rpms, and let the idle be what it is.

The XJR's injector flow rate are almost double that of the Xj's.

Also, the early XJR's had problems with excessive carbon buildup around the exhaust valves (Service Bulletin 03.1-10 / Vin720001 - 792388) especially when driven mostly around town and or short trips .., which then could lead to rough idle - highway driving however could then cause the condition to clear up significantly as carbon deposits are then removed.

"Carbon Cutter" exhaust valves (90 degree angle at leading edge) were then introduced after Vin 792388 and could also be installed in affected engines ..,
