Default AIRBAG fault

Hi
My name is Darrol. I have a 1997 XJ6 that has an airbag fault that shows up on the odometer soon after starting the car. There is also a red dash airbag message that comes on. When hit the ODO button on the dash the AIRBAG fault goes off but the red dash airbag fault stays on. The car was in a front crash but no airbags opened up----since after getting car fixed at shop the airbag faults were on. The garage said they did not know how to clear the fault. .

I would think that something needs to be reset---but what? I will be taking it to a jaguar dealer in two days and it will cost a 100 to 200 just for them to pull the faults. I would rather avoid that if possible. Anyone have any ideas as to the problem?
thanks

Welcome to the forum Darrol,

I've moved your question from XJ6 & XJ12 Series I, II & III 1968-1992 section to X300 section. Members here with the same model as you have will be able to help.

When you get a minute, please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST section and post some info about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.

You may need a new impact sensor or wiring harness.
