Default Alarm Beacon?

Hey Guys,

My alarm system and door-locks work perfectly.............now

The beacon on the dash however does not flash when the system is engaged. Has any one else had one of these stop working? I don't know if that is an LED or a bulb or what?

How difficult is it to get to?
I don't want to risk breaking old plastic attempting to pry or pull it out so I was hoping someone here had done it already.

Cheers
Bernie

Just going to bump this question up to the top again.
I seriously do not want to break any plastic on the dash if someone has done this before and knows anything about it.

Cheers

If you're talking about the little dome shaped gizmo on the top of the dash, right under the windscreen, I thought I read somewhere that this is actually part of the auto climate control/heating set up. If I'm right, it acts in conjunction with the exterior temperature sensor, but reads, or reacts to the amount of light outdoors. For example, on a very sunny day, you might feel a lot warmer driving into the sun, as opposed to driving away from it, and also, early morning/late evening, light and temperature might be very different. So, with this gizmo, a balance is achieved. As an afterthought, might it have anything to do with automatic wiper operation? Must go and lie down now!

Maybe I dreamt all this, but I'm sure I read it somewhere.

Others may chime in. Otherwise, access might be possible by removing the ski slope, to remove the radio/heating control etc. units?

It is a sensor for direct sunlight.

Well there ya go!

I figured it was a light beacon as it looks very similar to what my BMW x5 has hanging from the mirror. I guess I will assume for now that it works fine.......

Thanks fellas.
