Default Alternator removal

Is it easier to remove the alternator from the top or from underneath? This is on a 96 XJ6.

It comes out from the top , but the large pivot bolt if I remember I worked on from the bottom as there is a nut on the other side . Had to pry it off the bracket the large bolt goes through as it was pinched for whatever reason from the bottom if I remember . Filed bracket bushings inner shoulders for better reinstallation .
