Antenna?
Hey guys well here's a new one, car is running great and so far all looks good mechanicaly. However my new prob, is the antenna, It some times comes up when I turn on the radio, or some times, does not. It's getting frustrating. Any way I was told to clean it and rub it with a little lighter flued to clean it and that it wuld just disipitate in a few seconds. So still no help, The antenna still chooses when it wants to come up or not. mostly not! Is this a mechanical problem with the motor or the antenna itself...any one else have this problem. And of course when the antenna is not up, I can't get anything...SO as I said very frustrating to say the least...????

Remove the power Antenna unit for inspection.
1) Pry back the carpeted cardboard in the trunk to expose antenna.
2) Unplug the power antenna wiring harness.
3) Unbolt Antenna grounding strap.
4) Unbolt 2 bolts securing the antenna.
Inspection:
1) Lay Antenna unit on it' side with the screws faced skyward
2) Remove the screws securing both halves of the black power unit.
3) Seperate the 2 halves.
With this many years gone by, often the grease will have dissipated to near nothing. There should be a copious amount of grease on the center spindle, as well as on the toothed plastic attached to the base of the mast. Gob on a generous amount of grease, and give the metal mast a good cleaning then coat it with WD40, manually extending and compressing it as you do so to achieve unhindered operation. Then resecure both halves of the power unit.
