Back in the saddle, again? X300-R wanted
Wagons, euro and domestic, are becoming a rather hot commodity. Volvo 850T5 and R wagons as well as the first gen V70R are some of my faves but the decent ones are rather hard to find at prices that make sense. Another choice would have been an X Type 3.0 Sportwagon with manual. This E39 wasn't really my first choice because of the color and auto trans, but the reality outweighed the wish list.
BTW, you have one of my favorite bikes of all times. Love the design and the performance. Too bad you are far away or we could tear up some of the local canyons.

"Wagons, euro and domestic, are becoming a rather hot commodity" ....ugh, of course they are, because I like them!
I guess I shouldn't worry about what other people like as I'm not a fashion follower, but along with being practical, I've always thought wagons looked sharp and were a bit different. *sigh* I hope they don't become the next "thing"
Plus I like to get them cheap!.
Check out stationwagonforums.com. At some point, I was looking for a 72/73 Ford Torino wagons. I was quite surprised at what a clean one was going for. I was also surprised by several recent wagon listings on BaT in terms of their perceived value.
I don't think wagon popularity is fashion driven but rather people re-discovering that practicality and style can go hand in hand. However, its a rather limited market segment especially when it comes to brand new cars. Most people looking for family vehicles are being drawn to SUV or. Mini Vans.
As far as secondary market is concerned, you and I are still ok. Very clean wagons, like sedans, are always more desirable and will fetch high dollar. On the average though, this segment still holds a great bang for the buck.
P.S. Forgot to mention Audi A6 Avant and the 5000S wagons, both very sleek looking.
