brake question
I'm getting ready to put some new brakes on my 1996 xj6 and was wondering if anyone had any advice. Should I use OEM equipment, or is aftermarket okay? I have used aftermarket before on other types of vehicles, but I wanted to be sure that the big cat wuold react okay with aftermarket pads, etc. Any help would be appreciated, thanks everyone in advance.

just had my brakes done, I used brembo rotors, and and some pads I forgot the name but they were ceramic pads. Costed me about $550 with labor for 2 rotors and 4 pads, but I would def reccommend brembo rotors and any type of ceramic pad.
Don't use Raybestos ceramic pads, there are alot of good reports about Akebono. I have no personal experience with them: I don't use aftermarket brakes, since I am responsible for correcting squeal problems that have often resulted in the past.
Just my 02. but personally i prefer OEM
I too am one of the guys at a Jag dealership that are constantly correcting customers concerns after buying aftermarket pads/rotors
quite often people end up spending double the price for brake work when you consider they end up buying OEM afterwards just to get rid of the problems they have with aftermarkets mainly brake noise
and occasionally pulsations and such
your call?
