Bypass Traction Control using no T/C throttle cable?
That should say, ...using non-TC cable.
Would it be possible to use a throttle cable from a car not equipped with traction control on a car that is, as a quick way to bypass the traction control unit under the hood? I looked at parts online but could not determine whether the two versions of the cable attach to the throttle body in the same way. Thanks.

Disconnecting the TC unit will likely prompt the "TRAC FAIL" warning light. Bypassing it with a longer throttle cable might have a similar effect, as there will be a disparity between the TPS and the TC inputs to the ECU. The attachment to the throttle body should be OK though.
Thanks! I was thinking of doing this on my father's '95 XJR, which is a two-hour drive away. His TC unit is seizing or binding--you feel it with your right foot on the pedal. I thought I'd bring the unit home with me to play with, and leave him with an operational vehicle by installing the other cable.
At least, I think it's the TC unit and not the cable itself that's is seizing up, because it happened to my '95 XJR that was sitting for ten months. In that case I couldn't depress the pedal at all. Anyone else experience this?

Yes the fitting right at the TC was broken so the cable was binding up there, The cable is zip tied to the firewall, creating a sharp angle as it comes out of the TC unit. Cut that zip tie and have the cable lay across the engine so it enters the TC unit straight on, and the binding might go away.
