Default Can overfilling of oil cause problems?

I brought my 97 XJ6 for an oil change at my mechanic and he overfilled the oil but about 1/2 of a quart. The level is clearly past the max on the dip stick. Can this cause problems?

Thanks for any advice, as a am pretty pissed off.

AJ16er, if it is only 1/2 a quart past the full mark, I would not worry about it. Worst case, you may see a slight drop in mileage due to the crank having to slosh through the oil as it is spinning. As long as you are not hearing any noises, I would call it good.a little extra doesn't really hurt anything.

Thermo's right, of course. And with what's going on in the world, be pissed about something important.

Listen to the "Spark." There are far more important things. For example, the Astros are 14 games out of first!!!!!

Ken, yeah, the Astros are right around the corner from going to the World Series, just like my Browns are heading to the Superbowl this year!!!!!!!!!!! I wonder if that is why they are called "The Browns"? Just a point to ponder.
