Default Car Jerk in gear problem problem please help.....

hello everyone, I own a 1996 XJ6. I have expericed a problem about a few months ago, nearly everytime sometimes worse than other times I will be coming to a stop and then as I begin to accelerate I get a big jerk/Viabration in the steering wheel, and the cash kind of pushes forward, I have read different stories about similar things, but I am not sure what this can be. It only does it from 1st to second gear, other than that it shifts fine. I have replaced engine mounts, tranny mount, did a transmission service, all control arm bushings, and ball joints are new. Do you think a reflaash to the ECU would solve this problem? If anyone can help me plelase, thank you, this has been very annoying..

I had a hard shift 3rd gear on my 95 xj6. I took it to a local
trans shop who recommended replacing the fluid and cleaning the
filters first. I was going to install a BG product for
transmissions but elected not to do that after getting a second
opinion. I also looked at the option of the power flush but elected not
to go that direction. What I did do was have the fluid changed.

He replaced the trans fluid with Mercon 3 and installed a RED Lube Guard. I had this
done at around 120,000mi and I am at 151,000+mi. He told me that
the combination of these two items were correct for this car xj6.
A lot is taken into consideration Trans type and the operating
temperature. It worked for me.

hey gus, now when you say a hard shift what do you mean by it? My problem is more of just a big thud/viabration in the wheel when I am about to hit second gear. I did a tranny tuneup at a local jag repair shop it costed about 120 bucks it was about 8 months ago, I was hoping to resolve the problem but it didnt do anything for me. I also noticed that even when I hit the gas real hard and the car takes off I get the thud/viabration in the steering wheel then too no matter what gear im in.

Not sure if this is the same problem. However, when it would go to the next gear it would shutter then slam into gear if that makes any sense. When driving lightly it would shift with little effects as I just mentioned. Did I ever question what I thought the cause was? No not really! When the fluid was changed did you notice any difference at all? Your theory to re-flash the operating system makes sense if it is not a mechanical problem at the transmission. I have a good transmission man and his number is on my web page. His name is Tom and a great guy. You may want to call him and see what he has to say. Just remember he makes no money by giving advice! So please be grateful and courteous.

Default transmission mount

The mounting system for the Jaguar is comprised of several different parts.
The bushings wear out and allow the transmission to shift. I'm replacing some parts now and have found a huge wear problem.
