Default Charging point relocation

Anybody else sick of having the ash tray open to charge a phone or use sat nav Bluetooth etc 🤦‍♂️

nice quick and easy mod here I’ve just done in 30 minutes

remove cubby box liner and drill a small hole in front left corner of bottom
of the liner

thread a piece of wire through this hole and connect and crimp to rear cigar lighter socket which is often there but redundant ,the thick orange wire is negative and the black is positive on this original wiring 👌🏻

reinstall everything the simply connect another usb or cigar lighter socket of your choice to this wire and either sink into the base of the cubby or do as I have done here 💪🏼

Hi X300exec,

Nice work! I hate having the ash tray open too and may follow your lead.

For the benefit of others, could you share where you sourced the USB/cigar lighter socket assembly you used?

One question is about the polarity. The Electrical Guide seems to indicate that the Orange wire with Brown tracer line (color code ON) is the Battery B+ supply, and the Black wire (color code B) is Earth/Ground. Which wire did you connect to the center electrode of your new Cigar lighter socket?

Cheers,

Don
