The chassis numbers/letters are marked out on the floor of the trunk near to the battery. Are these details stamped in a similar way anywhere else? Those in my trunk are becoming somewhat unreadable and therefore I was wondering if they are reproduced elsewhere as a 'backup'.

Thanks for that, I'm not sure about your reference to downloading the file.
Clicking on FAQ only brings up a facility to search FAQs and entering 'VIN' or similar doesn't bring any result such as the pdf you mention.

The document I was referring to should be this one. X300 VIN + Location Identifiers.

Got the file thanks, much appreciated. BUT, on my vehicle there isn't a 2nd VIN stamped in the position shown. Fortunately there are no signs of the anything having been erased, but I'm naturally now a little concerned! Can you or someone put my mind at ease that the 2nd VIN isn't always in the position shown above the battery but perhaps somewhere else?
