What do you guys think about this? Apparently it's just a chrome insert that goes in between the stock chrome 'bars' in the grill and adds more bling.

make sure its not that "chrome tape" but actual rigid slat covers
a lot of ebayers sell just tape that wrinkles and looks bad up close.

 

I can't imagine needing chrome to cover what's already chrome.
my grill is chrome as is every other grill I've ever seen barring the mesh grilles

 

There is a fairly common option for black grille vanes.

I've seen black vanes on BMW's but I've never seen them on an XJ6

 

We see a lot of them. I'm with you, however. I say chrome all the way!

 

Reason I liked Jaguars in the first place was the chrome bits. My Mark 2 had loads, my XJ6 Series 3 a lot less, and my Rover 75 (my current car) is the equal of the Mark 2 !! had a quick look at the eBay site, and the parts are definitely mouldings to fit over the original black vanes. It looks a good mod to me at the price quoted.
