code P1178 - problem

Hi this is my first post, so i want to sey Hellow

sorry to my language...im from poland and i dont good speak eanglish so please Excuse me

i have a problem...(my car jaguar x300 r 95 the last days....smook to much fuel...so Iexchange my "lambda probe"....and my x300 began smook pretty good...bad today i see code p1178 wath this? l

first off, welcome! glad to have you among our fold.

my database doesn't have a jaguar specific listing for said troublecode, but it has listings for BMW and Volkswagon, which is as close to it as you can get.

p1178 - o2 sensor signal slow circuit

bank one(1) sensor one(1).

The sensor isn't switching as quickly as it should, causing the ECU to measure the fuel/air ratio incorrectly. This is probably why you're having fuel issues also.

just a toasted oxygen sensor is what it appears to be.

I'd try changing your spark plugs if they haven't been changed in a while and then check the readings, but you will probably end up having to replace that sensor.
