I'm looking at buying a 1996 XJR. I have 3 candidates, and need to decide soon. The best candidate has it all except Cruise Control. Is that a doable fix for a DIY? or does it involve getting deep into computers etc?
Thanks
To obtain the rubber diaphragm that moves the throttle may be hard to find and how long will it last
The cruise control works on it's own vacuum pump , vacuum dump valve and the CC module behind dash , gets a speed signal from the ABS module / left rear speed sensor
Retrofitting cruise is an easy job and you can get a whole kit for it, they show on eBay every now and then or you could get all parts from a donor car. I'm sure there's a detailed how to somewhere on this forum, might be even mine.
Enden up buying the best and most expensive 96 XJR. Which covers all my needs, except the missing cruise control. If anybody has a link to what they see as a complete kit I could buy, let me know...
