Default Damp Weather = Difficult Morning Start

Hey Lads,

First time this morning that the Jag had difficulty getting started.

I live in Las Vegas where of course it is usually warm and dry. It rained here quite a bit yesterday and it was cooler this morning as well. The wife went to drop off my son at school and she said the car wouldn't start.

Ordinarily, we never touch the gas pedal when starting fuel injected vehicles. I tried a number of times and the car was protesting. It simply wouldn't start.

Finally, I gave it some gas pedal and after a couple of burps and protests, it finally started and also belched some smoke out the tailpipe. This all cleared after a few seconds of running and the car settled into even idle.

Just wondering if anyone has had similar issue?

My thought is that there is some sensor that isn't working to tell the computer the current state of humidity or something? Its perplexing as I have never had it not start until now and I couldn't see anything wet under the hood either.

Also, why do these starting motors sound so crappy? Not sure if mine is just on its way out but they don't sound very pleasant when you are cranking on them.

Cheers
Bernie
