Dayton wheels
Howdy all,
Just a question about wheels. I have Dayton wire wheels that were likely installed at the dealership when this car was new. I had really old tires on the car. Trying to learn about wire wheels, I understand that they have tubes in them. When I had the tires changed today, I saw that they took the tubes out, and put liquid rubber over the spokes. By the time I got home, two of my tires were low. Should I have had them put the tubes back in? Was that even possible? I know wire wheels can be a pain in the butt, and I'm really not sure I want to keep messing with them. I was thinking of just purchasing a stock set of regular wheels and replacing these.
I can get a stock set of sold wheels for about $350 and I think in the long run they would be easier to deal with. Anyone else deal with wire wheels?

Well,
I think I just learned a lesson about tubes, and wheels...they did have tubes in them. I just went down and had the tires replaced and they removed the tubes. They then put a coat of liquid rubber over the spokes on the inside of the wheel. I saw the old tubes they took out. By the time I got the tires home they were already leaking (the two rear ones) I filled them back up and they slowly leaked again. I think the best bet is to just get a set of the old stock wheels and replace them. I just think don't want to continue to monkey with this.
