Smile DIY door handle cable RESOLVED

I previous thread I asked for help in obtaining a new door handle cable for the drivers door. Since then I decided to make my own replacement cable since the cable housing was still perfectly good. After all, "what could be so hard"? I had some good cable a little bigger than the Jag cable and it fit the housing just fine. I made a fitting for the handle that would grip the cable, rotate with the handle motion and was adjustable. I made a swedge fitting for the other end and after three tries at putting it all together I tried my DIY repair. After all "what could go wrong"? Well, when I tried to open the door from the inside the door unlock worked but the door would not open. So I think I didn't hook the other end of the cable to the right spot. It is almost impossible to see in that area with a mirror and a flash light. I tried to remove the latch mechanism but it seems to be trapped behind the window rail. So I could use a little help. Does anyone have a diagram of the latch mechanism. That would really help guys. Or does anyone have any suggestions as to what I did go wrong. Or a picture of the latch mechanism.

Thanks guys
