Default Dodged a $400 repair job for $20

Engine would shut off every 7 to 8 miles I would have to let the car sit for 15 to 20 minutes and then it would start up and do the exact same thing again. Yesterday I was on my way to the shop and it shut off right in front of the shop we tried to start it to no avail. Then we disconnected the fuel line and NO fuel was coming down the line, we let it sit it started up. We started checking the relays to see if anyone of them were hot while the car had been restarted. We found one of them was hot we pulled it, the engine shut off we re placed it with a fresh one and the car started up. A lot of these electrical problems members are having could be from burned out or faulty relays. This was posted as a hint; it might be worth while to check the relays before we look else where for some of our electrical problems. If my mechanic were dishonest he could have charged me $400 for a fuel pump instead of $20.00 for a relay

Not to rain on your parade...but if you haven't already, just a for peace of mind, it might be worthwhile to check that the new relay is not getting excessively warm also...this could be an indication that your fuel pump is pulling excessive current and failure might be imminent.
