Does your cars' height change??
An odd question, but I'm really not imagining it. Sometimes when I park my car, the front end is definitely higher than at other times. Not by a lot, but noticeable to me just the same. The gap between the top of the front wheels and the wheel arches is sometimes bigger than at other times.
I have owned this car about two years and the front suspension shocks were changed not long before I bought it. The rear shocks ( which I changed earlier this year ) are fine and bog standard, so it's not as though they are rising or falling of their own accord, and so, affecting the front ride height. And it's not a case of filling the boot with bodies either, it just seems to happen randomly.
It's not a big issue, but I would be interested in any thoughts/input.
Thanks.

The only time I have ever seen something like that is when a suspension part binds. Sometimes the fulcrum bolts get so rusted or hauled that they bind to the bushings. This may cause the suspension to not return to its normal settled position.
When I bought my 95, one of the upper fulcrum bushes had worn out and the fulcrum bolt jammed itself. With the car on stands, I could put a jack under the spring pan and lift the car off the stand before the spring would even compress!!

No definate answer, but, as said, suspension components binding will cause that same issue.
The ball joints are the most common, and age is now creeping into the X300 in real time.
All my Jags have given me that "illusion" from time to time, and I have put it down to fuel in the tank/s, road camber, or lack of, as the cause.
I found that the more I drink the more even they appear, mmm.

Thanks for all the thoghts folks, even the crazy ones! I thought about dips and depressions in the road, road camber etc. but it happens sometimes when I park it on my flat, even, horizontal front yard/garden. Maybe the possibillity of something binding up front is worth looking into, but if this is the cause, then it affects both sides evenly and consistently. Curioser and curioser. I think I'll have to start measuring the gap between wheel and arch on a daily basis, just to be sure.
Thanks again...............
