Default Door exterior lower window trim strip removal

1996 X300 3.2. Does anyone have any advice as to how to remove the door exterior bright metal window trim strip fitted at the top edge of the door skin? This strip also has the exterior door window seal attached at the back. Just to be clear - on the front doors it is fitted along the top edge of the door skin immediately below the door mirror. Thought I would ask before blundering in. Also, is it possible to remove the bright metal trim around the rear quarterlights. This seems extremely difficult to move at all and may be bonded to the quarterlight itself.

The trim piece you are referring to is called the Door Waist Finisher/Seal. The piece is simply a push fit on top of the door using spring clips. To remove you need to lever it upwards carefully and slowly.

A word of caution here. These trims are prone to corrosion internally (aluminium) and that makes them fragile. It would be easy to destroy them when removing. Be aware that most if not all are NLA and good used ones are very rare at least in the UK. If you can get hold of new ones they are very expensive.

The rear quarter light (called a six light by Jaguar) is a single unit glass and trim so you cannot remove the trim without the glass which is bonded to the car body.

Thanks. My trim is not damaged (yet - as I have not tried to remove it ha ha ).
I wanted to know how to remove as I need to get some body work done and would prefer to remove the trim rather than have it masked.
