Unhappy Door Locking issue

There was a thread that has died discussing this issue which to me is very serious. No so much from the inability to get out of the car in an emergency as the problem of fixing the stuck lock with the door closed. To me this is a very serious issue and I would like to hear more on this subject. A preventative measure is what I am looking for. I have suggested dribbling some silcone liquid down the pull knob to hopefully keep the failure from happening in the first place.

Please, I would like to reopen this issue and hear from those that have had the problem. Some pictures if anyone has some. Anything that might lead to a preventative measure. I really don't want this to happen to me. Maybe this is not a frequent happening.

Thanks guys for any light you can shed on this failure.

If its the front doors and if i remember correctly it is a straight connection from the lock knob to the latch/actuator box. And that rod is not tightly bound by any surrounding panel. So if its jamming its the actuator itself. Further the interior door pull is a single connection to a second lever on the actuator whose first step is to also unlock the mechanism. If neither input from the knob or the pull handle unlocks the lock it would be either a seriously jammed button lever or an internal actuator failure. Either case id replace the actuator. And I'd do so before it happens with the door shut. You can pull the wood strip and the door capping and probably take the handle screws out of the panel and pull it into the car enough to get an arm in their and battle with the actuator to get the door open. But youre going to get bloody doing it. And probably wreck some trim. All the levers ae part of that actuator. replacing it with afresh well lubed part is probably the only preventative.

Actually, the door locks at this time are working just fine. The clicker sometimes doesn't work, but the key works fine for all functions.

What I was after was some idea of preventative maintenance such a dribbling some silicone down the pull rod.

Thanks Swaschka
