Default Error Codes P1315 and P1316

My check engine light has been on for a few weeks so I went and got my codes read. It gave off two error codes: P1315 and P1316.
P1315 - Persistent Misfire
P1316 - Injector Circuit / IDM Codes detected

I'm no expert and I don't know what IDM codes are. What could be going wrong to throw off these codes? Also can someone please tell me how to see the IDM codes if thats possible or what to do about them? Could changing spark plugs stop the misfire?

Thank you for any help and advice in advance.

P.S. I was able to find about ALL the codes at http://www.jaguar-online-club.de/obd...t_codes.0.html

the p1316 code is misfire and excess emission. the p1315 is a misfire in one of the cylinders and the injectors switched off. The possible causes are the same as the p0300 code which are:
Fuel contaminated
Fuel injector(s) blocked or leaking
Ignition secondary circuit breakdown
(coils, spark plugs)
Fuel pressure low
Cylinder compression low
Broken valve spring(s)
CKPS circuit fault (CKPS DTCs also flagged)
Fuel injector(s) circuit fault(s)
(Injector DTCs also flagged)
Ignition coil primary circuit fault(s)
(Ignition coil DTCs also flagged)

how and what tests should i run to start cutting out possibilities.

Well, do you have any symptoms? Can you feel a stumble either at idle or while accelerating? Actually , these cars are slow to give these codes, with most people reporting feeling a misfire without getting a code. If you are not feeling it, I would reset and see if it returns.

I reset the codes on thanksgiving day so I will check them again soon. When I start the car it emits a loud noise that I believe is the sound of a pump or something over the engine that only lasts for a few seconds. Some people have told me a timing chain but I have been hearing the timing chain rattle for a long time before that and on the times that it doesn't make the new sound I can still hear the timing chain. There was one day that it almost didn't start then drove horribly. When I was driving the car would have a hard time dropping rpms and I would almost have to stand on the brakes to stop it. Next time I turned it on it didn't happen. However my power steering pump is leaking so I thought the sound might be my pump

You have a bunch of unrelated faults but they are all common.

Here is the TSB collection I found for you

today it started shaking really bad upon idle and a little while driving. check engine light started flashing simultaneously with the shake and it pulled 4 codes when I brought it by advance auto parts. P0301, P0302, P1316, and P1313

Default Engine misfiring.

I was heading to my friends house when suddenly the engine light was turned on and when i parked my car it started vibrating and misfiring later diagnosed with obd2 and recieved code p0305 and p1315 on my 2017 xe. The vibration is greater when the car is in reverse or when idle or when i accelerate and I can feel power loss in between. Am not fully sure about the actual root cause can somebody help me. I did changed the engine oil filter it still is the same and there wasn't much loss of previous engine oil.

Looks to me like you have a problem at Cylinder 5.

1. Check for oil in cylinder. (easy check for failed gasket)
2. Replace Spark Plug. (remove spark plug and make sure it's ok, replacements are so cheap, so I wouldn't reuse the old plug in any case)
3. Replace Coil (no good way to test, if #1 and #2 don't resolve the issue, this is the likely and most expensive repair)

Those are your most likely fixes.

If you need a coil, I have a lot of them and can send you one if you just pay for shipping. Just let me know

thanks alot for that but i already have ordered spark plugs and three ignition coils ...but if i do need more i will let you know . Hope spark plugs will fix the issue since one of the spark plug is little black on top and i feel like it's cause of ignition coil since there wasn't much of fuel on the plug and there was very little that i can understand that spark plug wasn't working and the fuel in cylinder 5 was not burning but let's hope for best.

yeaa i did opened the spark plugs and one of them is black just clean black. And there isn't much of oil either maybe it's a ignition coil but will get to know once the parts arrived.

This ones good.

See this one i feel like it's one from cylinder 5 since i can't really tell which cylinder is which and it isn't written on manual either.

Failed coil isn't unusual. I believe Cylinder #1 is the one closest to the front, #6 is the one furthest back.

Yes, we can tell. You're much more likely to find answers in the correct forum, which is here. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xe-x760-85/
