Expensive noise. ? 96 3.2 Sport.
Any idea folks ? Started producing this noise when hot in neutral and park today.
Has been an occasional light noise from within bellhousing of late at certain idle revs but this is much much louder. Equally noisy under bonnet. .
Hard to pin down the source. Something scraping inside of bellhousing perhaps
Theres an occasional tinkle in the cacophony of noise.
i did put 5W 40 in on an oil change a few weeks ago but this noise is new. so probably not timing chain. It does have the updated tensioner.
It’s a 3.2 auto . Most of my experience is of manuals.
Car drives normally tho acceleration may be down slightly.
Struggling to get my 9 second video to load.

Sounds like the majority of the noise is water pump. Definite vibration at that side of block. Perhaps worn bearing causing impeller to hit casing. Tho no water leak
Was easier to locate without noise of fans running.
Noise and vibration much reduced with ancillary drive belt off and pump bearing slightly squeaky when turned by hand.
Pump ordered.
Alternator bearings feel smooth when shaft rotated. It being other possible source. Is charging ok.
