Default Exterior stainless door trim removal

I want to remove my door trim molding (the stainless part on the door between sheet metal & window) in order to wrap my car this weekend. Are they riveted on?

To the best of my knowledge, this trim is held on using an adhesive/double sided tape. It is difficult to remove, or to get started at least, without bending/kinking it.

A thin flat blade might be useful to get under it and lift it off by degrees and maybe warm it up with a hair dryer beforehand and as you go, just to soften the adhesive.

If you mean the weather strip, then it's just pushed into place.
Rear ones are easy, just open the door and pull the whole unit up and off, the front ones, you need to remove the wing mirror first

When I had my car painted earlier this year and the shop removed the trim it was rusted (I saw the pieces) and they told me it was difficult to get off. I ended up getting better used pieces from Coventry West, so it can be done. The chrome parts, on top, I replaced were similar in appearance given that they came off of similar age cars. It was the part under the trim that was in better shape than my orginal pieces. Maybe they came off of western cars..........

Original specification of window trim, they are never glued on by a double sided tape, they are clipped on, and to take those trims off without destroying the chrome moldings you need a wide plastic wedge which is avaialble at atuozone, pepboys and O reilly, just wedge it from side to side, never start in the middle of the chrome piece do it while windows are fully open

Default My Bad...............

Apologies for any bum steer I might have given, but I misunderstood the original query and was thinking in terms of the chrome strips/trim on the window surrounds/pillars, as per the Sovereign.

The chrome capping on the tops of the doors are of course a different matter entirely.

It popped up/off quite easily from one end to the other. The only had part if any is removing the side mirrors with a torx bit. Be gentle removing glued on plastic trim cover, I slightly cracked mine.
