Default faded digital display

Apologies if this has been addressed before - I have searched the forum to no avail..

My 95 X300 has faded LCD digital display: by day I can see the clock, and trip computer readouts, but nothing at night.
Is that normal? (I think not)
Can it be fixed?

thanks, Al

thanks guys
it isn't just the clock, but the dashboard digital display as well - the odometer and trip computer numbers. They are visible by day, but at night not bright enough to see at all - just blank.
Whereas the analogue instruments are fine with the adjustable lights around the speedo/rev counter/fuel gauge etc

Mine was like that - in my case it was just blown bulbs. The dash pod will come out if you undo the bolts and it will then come apart into four or so pieces, allowing access to the bulbs.

The bulbs come with little round plastic holders which push and twist into the PCB. I can't remember the exact sizes, but Jaguar Classic Parts will give you the part numbers (Instrument Display Module-3.2/4.0 Litre - Parts for XJ Series from (V)720125 to (V)812255 (X300) | Jaguar Classic Parts UK). Off the top of my head I think the odometer bulbs had orange bases, while all the warning lights were white, but I could be wrong.
