Favourite colours for your XJR
If you were to give your XJR a new paint, what colour would you prefer? How best to balance class with sports, without going over the top? Racing green looks a bit dull, black and white somewhat conservative, and I have not seen many good examples of XJRs in red.

Found an interesting discussion on car colours mainly regarding M3 in a BMW forum:

Well, my opinion (everyone has one, right? ) ...... unless you have the funds to take the car nearly completely apart to repaint every nook & cranny, I personally wouldn't change the color significantly.
Nothing stands out as a cheap amateur paint job than door jambs, sills, engine compartments, etc that are a different color than the exterior body.
But that being said, I am a fan of unusual colors, so maybe something like a burnt orange, amethyst, that crazy smurf blue of the 1st generation Miata, or an anti-freeze green
I even like the turquoise from 1995, so something in that vein is fun.
Also maybe some more interesting enamel colors versus pearl or metal flake jobs.
But you know, it would also have been nice to have had more of the nice regular XJ6 colors available on the XJR. There were quite a few very nice colors available on the XJ6, but XJR had a much smaller set.
.... just no color shifting or opalescent whites please. Those outlived their welcome some time ago IMHO

I've often wondered what a matt or satin vinyl wrap would look like in the xj shape, I've always found it looks better on a "rounded shape" body over some of the squarer shapes, so the xj fits that description,
Also today i purchased a black brushed aluminium vinyl wrap which I plan to use on the front grill surround, mirrors and the B pillars, i think it should blend well with the black paintwork giving a slight point of difference to those areas.

Sorry Guys My XJR6 is blue metallic so is my motorbike love that colour
My new X350 XJ is black metallic my wife's Jeep its also black would like it in blue as well
I have had cars in white black silver green yellow blue beige gunmetal depends on the car
I like the ivory interior of the XJR6
I mightn't like the blue if it had a different colour interior the X350 also has an Ivory interior as well the Jeep is black on black I like that as well my old 450 SL merc was silver with a full red interior loved that combo
Wouldn't mind a gold coloured car at sometime but each to there own

Well, to be fair..... cars and other things that I have for a while tend to "grow" on me. I have an odd "old man blue" interior and exterior Buick Roadmaster that I've grown to love, along with my "teal" interior and exterior Buick Riviera. And I've never really thought of "blue" as a first choice car color per se.
And like all of you, I've had a variety of other color combinations over the years, and they've all grown on me.
I've even had a pea green 1975 Plymouth Fury, and by the time that car met its end, it was near and dear to my heart too
