Fog light, windscreen washer, mpg, jack and the cat
Folks:
I skidded on ice back in December and damaged driver's side wing of
my 95 X300 (3.2l), destroyed brake cooling duct, reflector, front
right fog light and windscreen washer bottle. All now fixed (sort
of) but I've now the most annoying electrical issue - windscreen
washer and fog light on that side not working (and bulb warning
light comes on when I try switching them on)!
Has anyone any idea what I managed to do? Fuses checked and souble
checked. (That being said, not that sure that either were working
beforehand as only had the car a matter of weeks) Any hints as to
how to diagnose / trace fault?
I'll tell you one thing. those fog lights are bar stewards to
remove! At least I'm learning a bit about the car from crawling
about underneath and I love the thing to death. Tomorrow's project
is remove passenger side fron wheel, powerwash and clean wheel,
powerwash wheel well and waxoyl, and replace air filter as it's
bogging - this last one may hopefully imrove my mpg as I'm only
getting 13/14 mpg (city driving) so I'm getting mugged at the
petrol station far too often - severe GBH of the wallet.
Oh, and one final issue - the jack handle - is it meant to ratchet
cause mine ain't ratcheting and it takes a week and a half to jack
the beast up. (She's not really a beast - Jacinta the Jag - and
our smaller, but still a fair size, pussycat loves her - I was not
amused when cleaning interior of windscreen to observe His Nibbs
sitting on bonnet, gesticulating with paw as if to say ''Look, you
missed a bit'')
Thanks from (for once) sunny Belfast

Ratchet
Yes, your jack should ratchet, one way for raising, then reverse it and the opposite way for lowering. Maybe a replacement from a breakers is an option? Regarding your eletrical issues, check for any damaged earth connections. These cars are fussy about such things. Best of luck with it.
