Hello all,

After fuel injectors removal and cleaning, I should ideally use new orings too?
If so, do you know sources that carry fitting orings for 1997 XJ6?

(I ask for sources because I have yet to find a vendor that carries gaskets, o-rings and similar items that actually fit. For instance, cam cover gasket and bolt sleeves I order from FCP did not fit and, ended up reusing the old ones)

A low cost option that can save you some time, effort and likely have better results would be to have a service repair, clean and flow test your injectors.

A service like Mr Injector - Home charges an incredibly cheap $17 per injector.

Al, thanks.

I intend to send them in for service and repair as you have also suggested.
My concern is in regards to the o-rings ....can I reuse them?

YES, better safe than sorry but make sure to put grease to each and every O ring before inserting it into the sleeves of the injector use Viton high temp, those O rings serves as seal against lost of vacuum and fuel spillage. a spill can catch fire specially when engine is hot

On your injector, are they not functioning right anymore? or is it you just want to do preventive maintenance? if you need instruction and procedures just e mail me, be glad to provide you with official ways to clean them. A remanufactured injector cost around $10 US. they work well and are available thru on line purchase

Also, ocean_view (and others), please put your model information in your signature so everyone knows the specifics about your car.

For example, in questions like this it can help because the injectors for the XJR versus XJ6 are different.

Where have you found the XJ6/XJR injectors remanufactured for $10?

FYI:

The normally aspirated XJ6 injectors are part LHE1520AA
The XJR injectors are part LNA1520BA

Cool, thanks. I will request that the service house that will do the cleaning use Viton hight temp as you have indicated (I plan to send them in for cleaning)

In regards to your question, I am at this juncture due to misfires on cylinders 3 and 4. I went through the exercise of replacing spark plugs, swapping ignition coils between good and bad cylinders, verifying signals to the coils and injectors and, doing a compression check. All looked ok, so, I figure one area to look at is the injectors. I was getting back-fires which made me think that there was fuel getting to cylinders 3 & 4 but, not enough for a proper combustion.
