Fuel pump hose failure? Weird problem.
Hi everyone, it seems like I have hit another road block in an effort to get my 1995 vanden plas back on the road. The car cranks but does not fire. I check all of the coil packs and they are getting spark.
I then checked fuel pressure at the fuel rail and no fuel comes out when the engine cranks.
I had just replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter.
I made sure the fuel filter is on in the right direction.
To make sure the fuel pump was working I looked in tank while my mother turned on the car, and the pump functions, but fuel sprays all outside of the hose. I'm not sure how to describe it well so I attached a little diagram.
Has this happened to anybody else? The hose looked fine when I replaced the fuel pump and I've tightened the clamp down pretty well. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, thanks.

There are some brands of pumps, Airtex in particular where the retaining nipple on
that joint is a slip fit and gets discarded by the installer by mistake.
Also, if the nipple is not the correct size for the hose, no amount of
clamp tightening will ensure a lasting tight joint.
Or, if you have not used a fuel line type hose clamp, the hose might
have been cut or split by the clamp.
