Smile fuel pump questionable

At 124,000 miles I am beginning to question the fuel pump. The reason for posting is to find out if anyone has had a fuel pump give trouble significantly before it fails to run the car. And what were the symptoms.

I have heard of no "partly failed" fuel pump, but I have experienced a "mostly plugged" intake sock on the pump. In that case, the car develops miss, then bogs on high load acceleration.

take a look at your spark plugs and what color they are. My plugs usually are black because my car historically would run on the rich side. when pumps started to fail car ran lean, noticed lack of power and decided to change plugs. plugs came out clean, ran it for a while and condition worsened. took a look at the new plugs and they were bone white, a lean condition. checked fuel pressure and it was almost nothing, pumps were bad.

Thanks for the info. Do you know what the fuel pressure is supposed to be?

Thanks again.
