Default Handbrake Switch busted

So,
my handbrake switch is not working.
the light on the dash is generally not coming on when i put the handbrake on.
every now and again it decides to come on. but generally it does not want to work.

I assumed that it was stuck and sticky, so i removed the switch, tried some contact cleaner but was unable to get inside for it to work,
ended up soaking in in petrol for a good few hours.
depressing the switch many many times while it was soaking.

then after taking it out, it depresses fine, and pops back up fine.
physically the switch mechanisim is working well.
however, the metal contacts inside the switch must be work and not making good contact as it still only works on occasion.
it is not the wiring in the car, it is definately the switch as when i remove the switch and hook it up to my battery charger and test light, sometimes the light is lighting and other times it is not.

now the part LNA6530AA seems to be NLA as new.
does anyone have any advice as to what i may be able to do here?
i can't seem to find a way to take the unit apart.
now yes, i could just buy another second hand one, but then it is just possible in a few months i get the same problem.
