Hi folks,
Today I smelled a wire burning smell in my car. Later I opened the trunk and saw bunch of ash and then noticed that the harness to the amplifier has completely burnt. There was evidence of a small fire there that eventually went out either because the fuse blew or a wire just burnt out.
The car seems to be running ok the radio comes on but there is no sound.
Any way, I was wondering if any one knows where the fuse is for the amplifier and if anyone has experienced this type of malfunction.
Thanks

The ELECTRICAL GUIDE will have ALL the fuse and relay locations and fuse ratings.
No idea what car you have so look online for the correct guide.

The H-K amp fuse is #1 in the trunk fuse block, 25A. Also fuse #10 is for the head unit, 5A. All of your speaker wires would be connected to the amp, but now they are probably melted. All fuses are listed on your underhood storage tray lid chart.
I don't recall hearing of an incident like yours. Certainly not a good place for a fire since it is right behind the fuel tank!
Hope the damage is minimal. You can still buy used amps if you want to restore it.

Thanks. Yes Fuse #1 is blown. I am surprised it didnt blow sooner. The connectors are completely melted.
I will look into restoring it.
Thanks for your help.
