Headlight Lens
Good gents and ladies - I have a1997 XJ6 (x300) I picked up a rock the other week right into the low beam passenger side lens. the Lens burst but protected every thing else.
i have started digging through yards online and everyone wants to sale me the whole headlight assembly.
Do you have any suggestions where i can just get a light or the lens?

jkjag, unfortunately, buying just the lens is going to be about next to impossible. The best advice that I can tell you if that you are looking to save some money is to find someone that has trashed the backside of the lens (installing too high of wattage bulb, tore the headlight apart to modify it, etc) and then trying to buy it that way. The person selling it knows they won't get much for it so if you offer them some money, they will more than likely sell it to you.
Just a hint though, when removing the clear lens, you will need to heat it up in say an electric oven, but you want to keep the heat down around 250F (120C). Going much higher than that and the clear cover will start to get soft and then you can have a real mess on your hands. Also, keep the plastic off of anything metal inside the oven. I have found taking a pop can and cutting it in half and using that to support the headlight assembly works wonders. If you let the clear lens touch hot metal inside the oven, it will turn snow white and you won't be able to get that out.

The same thing happened to me as it did jkjag. My Jag mechanic quoted me $246 including taxes for the lens (left inner) and $38 labor. Needless to say I'd like to find an alternative.
I also have water in the left outer lens so am I best off looking for a headlight assembly with two good lenses?

Good news...I got it yesterday.
Bad news...the lens I needed most (inner) was broken.
Why on earth would somebody ship something with no protective packaging except for some brown paper? On top of it the lenses were facing the bottom of the box.
Anyway, back to the drawing board.

Cost me a little more than the other one did ($100 shipped) but I got it today and every looks intact. I was able to recover the outside lens off the other assembly so it wasn't a total loss.
