While I had the passenger seat out of the car I've finally decided to tackle the headlining. I've been delaying repair for well over a year as I bought the headlining material in October 2020.
I did this job once in the past on my LWB X300 and that was a breeze, unfortunately on an SWB this is much more difficult as before you can remove it from the car the seat definitely needs to come out, if you're planning to put it back as it came out, ALL the bits covering transmission tunnel ALSO needs to come out, there is just no other way unless it goes through the front or rear window.
You can remove the old headlining with just the passenger seat out, it just requires a bit of force here and there but it will come out which is what I did.
Below are pictures I've taken, not ordered but should give you an idea what needs doing here. Every single piece of material had rotten foam, this stuff is horrid, crumbles to sticky dust, I've used a hard nylon brush to remove all the rotten foam leftovers from the headlining, on the console and sunvisors I've used a metal brush. Console is very easy to recover, headlining too but ideally it needs a second pair of hands to hold and lay new material why you glue it up. I've used two full cans of glue for the entire job, nothing left.
The sunvisors can be tricky. They are glued together but force a wide flat screwdriver between two sides, in the middle and they will split open. There is a metal pin holding both sides together, in one of the corners, you have to pull off the old material first to see it, then it can be pulled with some pliers and the sunvisor can then be split open.
Do not force the mirror out, I did and I broke it in half Screws for it are hidden under side plastic covers. Also while there its best to clean up contacts for the mirror lights. They were both corroded on mine.
Whole job took me approx 8-10 hours over two days, one day to remove and recover, second day to fit it all back together.
Fitting it back the same way wasn't really an option so what I did was to bend it in half and fit it through the rear door. There is obviously a small crease down the middle but I'm expecting this will disappear within a week or two. The whole thing looks brand new now
Looks great, lots of work to get the job done but I'm sure it's worth it.
This is also on my todo list, but I have the current old headliner pinned up there for now.
I'm not yet at my max pin limit so not a priority for me yet! Just a few above the rear seat. But that is some fine looking work Katar, well done. Not sure I have that ability. SWB car too.

Recovered headlining fitted back on the car
How did you get the fabric out of the sunglass holder?
I also can't figure out how to get the sun visor 'clamshell' to open, I have a spare pair from the junkyard I was prizing away at yesterday...cut the fabric off one but still can't figure it out

You pull the long metal pin from the side, where the red circle is, its hidden between the fabric layers but its easy to pull it out with pliers, then you effectively pry it open from the bottom where the blue rectangle is, it is glued but use enough force and it will open up.
