Help with automatic steering adjustment, please
So, getting to know my 1996 XJR6 and have found that the steering (annoyingly) automatically adjusts itself when I lock and then unlock the car via the fob.
I notice that the steering adjustment knob has 2 settings, AUTO and OFF. I have tried adjusting the steering to suit me, and turning the knob to OFF. But it still automatically adjusts itself back to its old position when I unlock the car from the fob.
Any ideas as to how I can keep it fixed in the right position for me? Thanks.

Been many years since I had my XJR/6 so foggy memory disclosure applies.
Adjust the wheel to your liking and then use the "memory" button on the door to remember the setting, which the wheel should always return to.
I recall that turning the selector switch "off" simply defeats the entry/exit feature where the column swings up and away for easier entry/exit
Others will chime in
Cheers
