Help! Dash stopped working completely including mileometer!
Hi all! like to think i know my way around these Jags X300's as i have lost count of the amount i have owned over the years, but.........this ones got me stumped! so here go's........... When you turn on the ignition in normal circumstances all the warning lights on both sides of the dash light up, gauges register, and you are ready to go, well this what usually happens anyway, over the past couple of days when i turn the key and fire up the car i get nothing! zilch! No ignition lights, no warning lights, no gauges of any kind, fuel, oil, temp Speedo, Rev Counter, etc etc: Nothing!
All that comes on is the liquid crystal mileometer, but!.... the miles stay at what was on there the last time the dash worked, it does not register any of the miles you drive from then on in.
Next day i can come out to the car, start her up and it all works fine, go out to the fuel station, shops, or where ever, come back to the car and it won't be working again! driving me nuts! also at night i have no panal lights whatsoever on the dash (even if the rest of it's working! )
Never come across this before and have done with all the guessing, need some hard info here guys if poss? ( oops! and Girls )
Thanky very much

I have seen this before (not on Jags) and I have repaired this problem. I have found that where the wiring harness connects to the circuit board for the dash. The pins that are on the circuit board will crack their solder joints. I think this happens with regular driving and the weight of the cable to the connector. I might be wrong as to how or why it happens but I have repaired a dozen of these things and it has almost always been the same. Especially the ground for some reason. Usually the ground pin is on one side or the other of the connector. You will need to remove the circuitboard in the dash and use a magnifying glass to study the solder joints. Any cracks you find should be desoldered and resoldered. Yes those are 2 different tools. Look at the ground pin I bet it's your problem.
