hi everyone, I changed my valve cover today, complete with gasket seals, and added some hylosil. I spilled some oil, but did readd a quart of it after to top it off. I now have the burning smell of oil, because it did spell onto the engine mounts and other areas below and around the engine. How long will it last, and is there anything I can do it get rid of it? thanks.

 

Wipe off as much as you can with rags then use aerosol brake cleaner to wash off the rest. Then clean the mess off your garage floor :-)

Oil on the exhaust will burn off after 20 minutes of running or so

Glad to see you got her conquered! It will probably take a bit of highway driving to burn off the spilled oil. Just another excuse for some Jaguar seat time!
