Had the 95 XJ6 down at the auto spark Friday to get front fog light and windscreen washer sorted - front light sorted and waiting on part due tomorrow for washer (washer motor itself defective apparently and blowing fuse)
Didn't use car over weekend or today but went out at aroun 5:30 to go to shop - strange, thinks me, aerial not down - into car and radio still playing. Sign one something ain't right
Car tries to turn over but briefly but no joy
OK, out with jump starter - nothing! No attempt to turn over at all, so I'll bring that in and make sure fully charged and wait to swmbo to get home and I'll jump from her car. Wait over, leave her's running for 5 or 10 minutes, into car, no crank again - doesn't even attempt to turn over
lights that stay on are bulb warning, srs airbag, battery, oil etc.
Aerial still being strange - turn radio off and doesn't fully retract but goes most of way
Hazards work, wiper doesn't, indicators don't, foglights don't, front and rear lights seem to be working (didn't check high beams)
Can't lock car (and obviously forgot friday as not locked when I went out)
Any theories? Help urgently needed as totally panicked

Presumably the car started ok after the sparks was at it? Even so, did he have the battery disconnected to do the work? Are all the connections good and tight, especially the earth, not forgetting the engine earth strap, located up around the front of the engine, where the sparks would have been doing much of his work? It might possibly have been disturbed during the work. First place I'd look. Best of luck with it and with the MOT.

Have you tried to disconnect the battery ?
