Default How to score a REASONABLY priced mirror

Just a quick tip- if your inside rear view self-dimming mirror is shot, search "Donnelly 011530" on eBay ( and elsewhere for that matter ). I scored this one in perfect condition for $45, shipping included. It even came with the "button" that adheres to the glass. Just be sure it says E8 011530 on the back, that's the one you want. Mine came from a 2005 Acura TL.

Good tip. Some of the mounting brackets look a little different. Assuming the wiring plug was compatible. I wonder if these later mirrors will be prone to the same failures as the X300's?

I haven't had a chance to look at the Jaguar end of the plug yet. Keeping my fingers crossed though, as the new one has three wires and the colors are the same. Worst case I'll have to snip off the plug from my old mirror and solder it on. The mounting on mine is identical.
I am told that Donnelly went to a gel to replace the old "dragons blood" in our mirrors that leaks and makes such a mess. I haven't heard of any issues with the later mirrors like the one I just purchased.

There's no need to use the whole mirror assembly. If you pry the mirror assembly apart you will find the mirror glass itself is removable and has a few inches of wire with a circuit board style plug at the end. Just unplug the glass and install it within your existing housing if it's a different mounting style. Once in place and plugged into your old mirror assembly, just snap the mirror halves together and your set. Make sure the adjustable slide switch is in position before you snap the mirror halves together.
