Question ignition switch

Hi need some help 1986 xj6 vandenplas lost keys can i get some help maybe where I could get one made from vin number or where i can find a new key switch and keys?

There's gotta be a Jag dealer in St Louis. They should be able to look up the key code by VIN and cut a key.

Doug's advice applies.

However your 1986 XJ6 will be a Series III and not an X300. Easy mistake as Jaguar badged so many different models as XJ6.

Not sure they'd be able to help if original is lost, but a good source for obtaining an inexpensive spare:

Actually, I was thinking 'X300' when I replied. I didn't notice that we're talking about an old Series III.

The dealer is still a good place to start but I'm not so sure that they'd still have the key charts and key cutters for the older cars...nor am I sure that present day data base from Jaguar still include the key codes for the older cars.

A Jag dealer that has been in business for decades might well still have the old stuff on a shelf collecting dust. A newer dealer surely wouldn't bother with it.
