Default Would a 98 xj8 part fit my 97 xj6?

I left my car on the street for an hour and I came out to discover a hit-and-run.

I have a hood already that I need painted. All I need is a grille and the plastic pieces that fit around the lights. I found a guy that has a 98 xj8 in a junk yard. Would the grille and plastic for the lights fit my 97 xj6?

Maybe, they are very similar in that area.

It would be work a try in my opinion.

I'm sorry to hear that!

The lights can be swapped out, so I assume the surrounds are the same. However, I believe the XJ8 grille is slightly more rounded and may not fit properly, so I would remove your old grille and compare them before purchasing it.

I would pick up the lights too if the price is right. Since the lights are so prone to breaking, it's nice to have a spare set--especially of ones many people consider an improvement. I like the amber glow of my X300 but a lot of people like the colder lights!

Great idea with the lights! Thanks. The guy I spoke with said he knows they are a similar body but has no idea if the parts are interchangeable I'll see if he can send me pictures of the lights, plastic pieces, and grille.

Lights are not "plug-n-play" from my recollection... but it can be done with a bit of wiring. I assume the grill will interchange, but never really studied it. Bonnet and front wings are interchangeable

I believe the grills on the 98 are a bit more rounded at the sides. I also think the headlight surrounds are different -- compare these two entries:
(Note: in spite of the title saying X300, in the details it says it's from a 98)

Ouch! Sorry to hear about that.

According to the Parts Catalogue, the same grille surround fits X308's from VIN 812317 to F59525 which appears to cover all years.

The core P/N is HNC5504 with different suffix depending on fluted, plain or colour keyed.

I have a 97 x300 and changed the headlights from the orginal to the x308 headlights. They fit with a little wiring and bending of metal behind the lights. I did use the original plastic though not the x308
