Ignition switch barrel removal
I have searched the forum and have not found the answer. How to remove the ignition barrel on a 96xj6. Someone posted a short video of I think maybe a xj8 removal but the x300 is different it does not have a little hole in the side of the barrel that you put a rod in and it slides right out. I have a parts car that I am going to use its barrel, if I can get it out.
I called Terrys Jaguar for a new barrel and they quoted me $195.00 and a $40.00 service fee and a five day wait. They were also going to need a copy of my driving license, registration and a copy of my insurance before they could process the order.
I don't know if it requires a special tool for removal or maybe I am missing something obvious.

I don' remember the details, but recall that no special tools are needed. You have to insert the key as this "unlocks" the barrel and then I think turning to no. 1 position allows it to slide out, after you've accessed any nuts, screws etc. A bit vague but so is my memory.
